Greetings all ! I just wanted to exchange some ideas with you. I would love to hear from men as well as women. Please help us understand our differences.

I am on a dating site, I have obviously had bad luck in love and have not found that special someone that I yearn to build my life around. If I take the time to wink at someone and then I am fortunate enough for them to wink back - then I am going to put time and effort into it. I want to give that person 100% so I will make time to talk to them and visit them even if it means staying up later than I want or talking longer than I may have the energy to. For the possibility of love and partnership, it is worth every minute ! However I tend to meet men that tell me they are interested and that they want what I do, but yet action wise they are not attentive to me, they go weeks without talking to me and basically put me on the back burner. I really want to meet a man who's goal is finding a sincere, substantial relationship and he will make it his priority and is willing to invest the time and attention to make it happen. I know we all have jobs and lives and are busy, busy, busy. I just feel that if you are too busy for love, then you should not be on a dating site or you should be clear in your profile that you only are here to make friends or casual acquaintances. I feel hurt inside because all of my high school buddies have went off and got married and have beautiful children and here I am without anyone. Plus I am only getting older and I feel like I am watching the life I feel I want and deserve pass me by. I am not mean or a user or classless. I of course am human and have faults, however I do my best to make an effort to improve myself and be the best woman I can be. I can be ditsy at times and talk a little louder than some people ( I'm from New York ), but I am a person who is kind and thoughtful and I would do anything in my power to help someone. I get lonley even though I am an independent woman who can live the rest of my life alone, but my life would forever be missing a piece only fulfilled by love. Why do men say they like me or want me or think I am special but then put me on the back burner ? Is that fair ? They act so non-chalant towards me, like I'm just a painting to hang on the wall. A posession they want but are not willing to take care of.
I am fed up of being treated like that. I felt like I put a lot of time and detail into my profile so that I could weed out the game players or the guys that are not serious. All I can say is what men don't understand is that when we build up experiences like this it eventually starts wearing us down and we become bitter and are less open to new people or are less inclined to just give our hearts away. The unfortunate thing in that circumstance is that one day Mr. Right may finally arrive and we will be too tired and burnt to even give him the time of day. That will be a loss for us both. I don't want to become that person. I don't want to hate men and I don't want to give up, but I feel with every man that disgards me I am fading away until I eventually have nothing left to offer, or that I want to offer.
I just wish that I find someone that would like to talk to me, spend time with me, love me, marry me and allow me the honor to have his kid. Maybe I'm holding out for the impossible.

Are my goals unrealistic ? Am I aiming too high ? Do I expect more from a man than I should ?

If a man truely cared in this day and age he would keep in touch. there is the phone , E-mail and text to keep in touch.So there is No reason to Not keep in touch! So Expet nothing less than you have stated in your bio.
Doing so you should separate the Men from the Little boys.

There are some really beautiful and amazing women who cannot find what the need, want or deserve within the Cities they live and find themselves here. I am once again struck by an emotionally exciting, beautiful and what appears to be a great woman here on this site who Geographically beyond my reach. Our frustration levels are probably very similar.

I think sometimes we can connect so stongly with a woman and then find distance becomes the barrier.
I for one would never in any way hurt or put any woman on the back burner. I was brought up with more respect for women and people in general. Dont let things discourage you VegasAngel... you are truly beautiful. less...

I am moved by what you write here with such openness and emotion.
Having searched for that kind of love/relationship all my life, and having settled for less, I say continue your search till you find it.
I wish I had taken more time in my youth to really understand what I needed, and to find that one person that would give even half of what I was willing to give them.

Well I have learned my lessons the hard way, and Im sure I will have more yet to come, but with each one I know I am getting closer.
Don't allow yourself to get bitter or to hate. The only way you can bring in the type of love that you want, is to LOVE.
